In an attempt to photograph the Leonid meteor shower from La Palma, Nik Szymanek and Ted Rodway (of Castle Point Astronomy Club) flew out on 17th November 1999. Unfortunately, the weather at La Palma conspired against us and the whole island was clouded out at the crucial time! As we were there for five days we set about photgraphing as much as we could of the observatory site and the beautiful weather conditions. Below is a selection of my favourite pictures. Equipment used was Nikon FM2s and 50mm / 28mm lenses. The moonlit pictures were taken using 400 ISO Ektachrome and the daylight pictures were taken using Fuji 50 ISO Velvia film.
